CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH: The STEELASTIC Co., LLC, a leading manufacturer of extrusion-based machinery for producing reinforcing components for tires, has added Dawnsun Exim Corp. to their worldwide sales and service team. Dawnsun will be responsible for STEELASTIC equipment sales, machine upgrades and customer service in India, as well as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This is a rapidly growing area for tire manufacturing, and STEELASTIC President, Ian Dennis, noted Dawnsun’s excellent relationships with all the major tire manufacturers in India, and their reputation for knowledgeable and customer-attentive representation in the area. Dawnsun represented STEELASTIC equipment many years ago and works with STEELASTIC’s sister company, Bartell Machinery. With STEELASTIC introducing a new generation of extrusion-based component manufacturing machines and a variety of high-productivity machine upgrades, the time was right to renew the relationship with Dawnsun.
A key consideration for STEELASTIC was Dawnsun’s ability to work with manufacturers looking for ways to build and retrofit more versatile and productive tire plants in an age when tire manufacturers are increasingly looking for new ways to profitably manufacture a growing number of SKUs and specialty tire products. STEELASTIC was also looking for a respected partner capable of making sure their equipment already in the field remained as productive as possible.
Dawnsun, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deusch Motocomp Pvt. Ltd., was set up in 1997 as a trading house. Today, they represent a growing portfolio of international manufacturers and consultants. The products they can bring to any project include a wide range of extruding equipment. “Dawnsun’s previous experience with extrusion-based systems for the tire industry was a real attraction for us. They understand our equipment and the versatility it brings to tire manufacturers in India,” Dennis said.
STEELASTIC is the leading designer and manufacturer of extrusion-based systems for manufacturing belt, cap strip, inner liner, and apex components for passenger, truck, bus, off road and aircraft tires. In 2019, the company introduced the first extruded body ply machine to the industry making it possible to manufacture all tire reinforcing components without using large, expensive calenders and associated offline processing operations. This makes it possible to profitably manufacture shorter runs of multiple SKUs and is fueling a “Go Calenderless” revolution in the tire making industry.
